It was a summer night
When new life was brought into this world
They rejoiced and celebrated
Because I was born
Tiny steps were made
And laughter filled up the room
I spoke my first word
And was lifted into the sky
Life was precious
But it stabbed me
Like how a rose
Would hide its thorns
Love that once was sweet
Turned bitter and resentful
Laughters turned to screams
And my world turned silent
It became cold but I felt comfort
Mistakes were made
And regrets were born
I felt warmth that touched my soul
Life wounded me
But scars will always heal
I learned how to love
I learned how to live
And so I lived.
