After checking for overall paragraph structure, make sure each sentence is logically connected to the one before it. Pause after reading each sentence and ask: “is this idea clearly connected to the one before it? Is the relationship between these two ideas clear?”

You may find that you need to add clear transitions to connect ideas together within sentences or between paragraphs. 

You can also use the reverse outline technique to the relationship of each sentence to the topic sentence.
