Posters

Text and Layout

Once your text is finalized and perfect, you can begin to place the different sections in boxes and organize them on the page along with your images.

The most important consideration is to remember that your audience will read from left to right and from top to bottom.

  1. Start by selecting a horizontal or vertical format for your poster.
  2. Divide your text into sections.
  3. Place text in columns or boxes.
  4. Align all text in boxes to the left.
  5. Leave white space around the boxes.

It is at this point of the process that you may begin to adjust font sizes or move images around in the text. This task takes patience.

Try not to take shortcuts by placing the references list on the right side of the poster just because it fits.

Remember, we read from left to right and top to bottom.

Ideally the references list as the last page in a paper would be in the lower right corner of your poster.
