Add articles to Mendeley by dragging and dropping a PDF into the Mendeley Desktop window from your computer. Mendeley will automatically extract the details from the document and create a citation for that article. If you add a PDF for an article citation that is already in your All Documents Folder, Mendeley will find the matching citation and add the PDF.
You can also drag and drop a folder containing multiple articles at the same time.
Mendeley Desktop
Click on File --> Add Files...
Select the files which you are planning to upload to your library
OR
Click on the file and drag the file into Mendeley library
Mendeley Web
Click on the Library menu in the Mendeley web
Drag/Drop a file to the library
OR
Click on Add button.
Click on Import Document.
Choose the required document and click on Open.
The selected file will add into the mendeley account
Notes:
It is important that you check the citations carefully. Mendeley may sometime unable to retrieve the citation data and create a wrong/incomplete citation.
Mendeley may sometime not have access to retrieve and save the .PDF of a citation directly from database. Please download the PDF separately and attach to the citation.
