The University of Calgary library subscribe to several e-reference collections. Browse these books to be referenced in order to find information relevant to your topic. This include dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other reference resources either freely online or accessible through the university.
Types of reference materials
Focus on words
Dictionary - a book organized alphabetically, which explains and defines words.
Thesaurus - a book or like-terms or synonyms. Search for words listed in alphabetic order.
Focus on topics
Encyclopedia - a book or several volumes of books of articles on various topics.
Handbook - a book on a particular or specific topic with possible instructions.
Manual - a book on an individual subject with instructions and procedures to follow.
