Writing out the idea.

Summary Checklist

  1. Citation for the original author is embedded in the summary text using APA style.
  2. Research topic or problem is presented (summarized or paraphrased).
  3. Purpose or aim of the study/article is presented (summarized or paraphrased).
  4. Essential supporting detail(s) are conveyed (combine paragraphs into single sentences where possible).
  5. Summary is true to source text meaning and ideas; new ideas or critical comment are not added.
  6. Different words and sentence structures are used: No more than four or five words in sequence are taken from the original source.
