Learning Commons Policies

Visiting the Learning Commons

The Learning Commons is open on appointment basis only. Students are encouraged to have an appointment before attempting to visit the Learning Commons. Request an appointment.

Considering the COVID-19 measures, we are limiting the number of users at the library. Kindly cooperate with us to ensure the safety of all our UCQ community.

Students who fall under vulnerable populations as per MoPH guidelines can make a request for receiving special treatment.

Read the MOPH documentation for more details of Vulnerable population.

Bookings

  • Student can book an appointment for the given time slots only. 
  • All booking will be between the LC opening hours only.
  • Bring your UCID/Qatar ID while visiting the LC.

COVID-19 measures

  • Students should maintain social distancing.
  • Group study or congregation are not encouraged in the LC study room or LC areas.
  • Face mask must be worn at all times.
  • Use hand sanitizer before and after use of computers.
  • Appointments with the writing specialists, librarians, and technician are online only.
  • Students are not expected to browse through the book shelf. All borrowing request should be made through the request form.
  • Students are advised to follow the MoPH guidelines for visiting campus and using the Learning Commons.

LC Opening Hours

LC will be closed for Summer Holidays from July 1, 2021 to August 21, 2021 (both dates inclusive). We will resume our operation on August 22, 2021.

 

 

Food Restrictions

There will be NO FOOD allowed in the UCQ Learning Commons. Covered beverages are allowed. 

Wondering where you can eat while in the campus?

You can eat in the outdoor lounge space (front of building) with social distancing.

Using Printers and Computers

Printers in the Learning Commons are available for student use. If you do not have a printer id or you forgot the pin, please generate one while on campus. Check the Printer Guide for more information on how to use printer.

Borrowing books and Technology

Borrowing

Students can borrow books, iPads and laptop for academic use. Due to increased requirements, student can borrow an iPad or a laptop at a time. Laptop can borrowed for a month and iPad for upto six weeks.

Books, except the course textbooks can be borrowed for the term.

Reserves

To ensure equal chance for all students, reserve book or course textbooks borrowing duration is limited to one week.

Fines and Fees

Students will be charged for any damage or loss of the LC materials. 

Meetings and Appointments

Considering the COVID-19 measures and the spacing restrictions, group study is not encouraged the Learning Commons. The study rooms are for individual use only. Kindly cooperate with us!
