General Principles

The most important principle for a poster is clear communication.

Your title must concisely summarize your main point and purpose and the information must be concise and easy to read.

After your text is written, the most important principles are as follows:

  1. High contrast between font and background
  2. No justified text (text in boxes is not centered)
  3. Three (3) colours (see colour wheel tab)
  4. All text boxes and images are aligned
  5. Readable text (always test before printing)
  6. Dimensions follow guidelines given to you.
  7. All writing and images are completed before poster design is begun.
